2009 FFF Southern Council Nomination

Teacher of the Year

Kevin Humphrey

The Northeast Arkansas Flyfishers nominate Kevin Humphrey for Teacher of the Year. Kevin has done so many things with education for schools, the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center, scouting organizations, and our club that there is not enough time or room to list them all.

Kevin has worked with several schools in Northeast Arkansas on their mini course days with both casting and tying. We do this every year with two Nettleton intermediate schools.

Kevin came up with a curriculum to help scouts receive their merit badge in flyfishing. Kevin almost single-handedly insured the success of this by working with the scouting groups, AG&FC, landowners and club members thorugh every aspect of the badge.

Kevin has been teaching fly fishing classes through Arkansas State University for several years. This has been well received by the community and ASU.

He has also used his fly fishing expertise and knowledge in helping the participants in Casting for Recovery by being a river helper on their day on the water. Kevin has done this for over 5 years. The Northeast Arkansas Flyfishers are proud to nomiate Kevin Humphrey for Teacher of the Year.

Nominated by Dennis 'Wild Bear' Reed, NEAFF
