2009 FFF Southern Council Nomination

Woman of the Year

Sister Carol Anne Corley

The Northeast Arkansas Flyfishers would like to nominate Sister Carol Anne Corley as the Southern council’s ‘Woman of the Year’. Sister gives so much to the Southern Council with her work with Casting for Recovery. Now she will tell you that she gets more out of this work than what she gives, which might be true, but what she gives to these ladies cannot be measured except to see the happiness in their faces.

Sister Carol also helps our youth with her fly tying classes for them feeding the many with so little. The way she can get so much out of so little is amazing. Not having the resources that many clubs and organizations have for tools, materials, etc. has not kept her in any way, shape, or form from still working with teaching kids to learn to tie.

She has always been gracious enough to allow me to twist her arm to tie at the Conclave now matter how busy she is. I have seen her be late for the Outreach luncheon because she could not say, “No.” People kept asking her to tie just one more fly while she was trying to leave and to keep from disappointing them just kept on until she had to be dragged away to make the Outreach luncheon.

Any accolade you could use for Sister Carol Anne would still not be enough to cover everything that she does so it with great honor that the Northeast Arkansas Flyfishers nominate Sister Carol Anne Corley as Woman of the Year.

Nominated by Dennis 'Wild Bear' Reed, SOC Fly Tying Chair, NEAFF
