Woman of the Year

Teresa 'TBird' Van Winkle


I wish to present an individual to you for consideration for one of the annual awards.

  1. This is a person who has been very active in both the council and club level, but has never ever held any of the council positions.
  2. She has has been at all the Council Conclaves, worked for as well as promoted the Federation of Fly Fishers and the local Clubs of the Council.
  3. She has taught and given lessons at almost every Council Conclave and Sowbug Festival we have had since 2003.
  4. She has continuously supported the Casting for Recovery programs and various outings in the Mountain Home/Flippin, Arkansas area.
  5. She has devoted support during the past three years the Wounded Warrior Program and Healing Waters Project in the programs and various outings.
  6. She has been involved in promoting the Art / Sport of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying in Washington, D.C.. Working for the past 15 years as a volunteer within the U. S. Department of Fish & Wild Life / “The Department of Fisheries”, engaging with other “Friends” groups and hatcheries all over the country.
  7. As working in a newly developed position for the past year, she has been deeply involved as the Regional Director of Development and working closely with several clubs on providing information as to the working of the Council and following up on the new Question & Answer sessions we have been bringing to the clubs around the Council.
  8. You never see her with out a smile on her face and a laugh or a joke for everyone around. And it is simply amazing how she can tie flies with those long finger nails!!!

The person I wish to nominate is Ms. Teresa Van Winkle. She is a member of the MAKO Fly Fishers & Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers, and has been an active member of the Federation of Fly Fishers for many years. Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter. I truly hope she is selected for this award. I will provide you with a list of other individuals who support this nomination to assist in the process.
