2010 FFF Southern Council Nomination

Teacher of the Year

Terry Tanner

With this letter, I would like to nominate Terry Tanner for the Southern Council Teacher of the Year award for 2010.

Terry has been a huge part of the fly angling world for many years as a teacher, mentor, and friend to many. Of the vast number of people who propose that Terry taught them to tie their first fly or cast their first fly rod or catch their first fish on a fly, many have gone on to teach others making Terry a "grandfather" and "great-grandfather" in the fly tying and fly fishing family tree.

Terry never fails to answer a question or give advice to anyone willing to learn. His charm and easy-going manner keeps people engaged and willing to learn from this very knowledgeable man. In a formal class, tying at an event, or just browsing a fly shop, Terry is always forthcoming with his know-how and opinions. He never seems to turn anyone down.

For his years of teaching the skills of fly casting and fly tying, I hereby nominate Terry Tanner as Southern Council Federation of Fly Fishers Teacher of the Year for 2010.

Respectfully submitted by,
Terry Beeson
