Bob’s love of the outdoors, especially fishing, led him into the fishing business. He continues to guide, teach and share his enjoyment with others.

Seminars, Schools and Trips

Bob now teaches fly tying, fly casting and fishing. His casting demonstrations, using visual aids and casting weighted flies and lines are very popular. Bob holds freshwater and saltwater fly fishing/casting schools at various locations around the country. He also hosts trips to great fresh and saltwater fishing locations.

Presentations

Clouser’s lectures, tying demonstrations and presentations are given nationwide. He is sought after for his presentations on “Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass” - Catching smallmouth from top to bottom using flies and “Fly Fishing Adventures”, about various species that can be caught on fly rod and flies. Bob’s Fly Casting Demonstration, Casting Weighted Flies and Lines is highly sought after. Bob is frequently called upon for participating in charity events.

Videos and publications

Bob has been featured in many fine fly fishing and fly tying videos and DVDs, Some of these are instructional videos, which can be found in retail shops across the country, and some have been presented on national television. Bob is also a prolific and highly regarded author of flyfishing and fly tying articles. His articles have been published in national and regional magazines as well as in fresh and saltwater publications. He has completed two books — Clouser’s Flies of which contains 16 of his world wide recognized fly patterns. His other book Fly Fishing for Smallmouth in Rivers and Streams, rated by Fly Fisherman magazine as (Best on the Subject) it contains techniques and flies for catching smallmouth bass. Bob enjoys doing freelance outdoor photography.

Fly Patterns and Industry Affiliations

Clouser is the innovator of many fine fly patterns, all of which gained worldwide popularity. His flies include The Clouser Minnow, The Half and Half, Clouser Crayfish, Swimming Nymph, Crippled Minnow, Mad Tom, The Darter, Hellgrammite, E-Z Popper, Floating Minnow and many others. Bob’s Clouser Minnow is claimed to be the most effective underwater fly ever developed; rated as #1 by Field and Stream magazine. He has designed a fly line (The Clouser Taper) manufactured by Rio Products that makes casting heavy wind resistant fly patterns a dream to cast. He is on the advisory staff for Temple Fork Outfitters. He is also on the staff of Rainy’s Flies Inc. and Renzetti Inc.

Awards

Bob has been presented numerous awards for his strong conservation work, especially work done to enhance smallmouth bass fishing in Pennsylvania. Most notable among his awards are his induction into the national Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame as Legendary Angler, the Warm Water Committee Achievement Award, a national award presented by The Federation of Fly Fishers, the Dr. Henshall Award presented by the Federation of Fly Fishers, and National Angler of the Year 2000 by Fly Rod and Reel magazine. He is a strong supporter of recreational fishing as well as conservation. He was awarded the 1995 Conservation Award of The Year presented by the Susquehanna Smallmouth Alliance, and in1997 the Charles K. Fox Rising Trout Conservation Award presented by the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Captain Conway Bowman

Captain Conway Bowman

Conway Bowman’s name is synonymous with “extreme” fly fishing. For Conway, home base is San Diego, where he guides for Bluewater species on the fly – most notably killer Mako sharks.  His exploits have been chronicled in various books and magazines, including Field & Stream, Men’s Journal, Saltwater Sportsman, and Wild on the Fly.  But Conway’s fly fishing prowess doesn’t stop there.  As former host of ESPN’s “In Search of Fly Water,” Bowman has traveled the world in search of Atlantic salmon, wild trout, bonefish, and tarpon. Conway has also hosted ESPN’s cornerstone adventure series on sharks “Primal Predator” and is now the host of “Dollar Wise Fly”  on the Versus network. Conway has appeared as a guest host on “Cabela’s Adventure Quest” , Versus’ “Escape to the Wild”,  Shaw Grigsby “One More Cast” and ESPN2 “Going Coastal”.    He currently holds the IGFA world record for redfish caught on the fly.  Bowman is now principal owner of the “Ragged Edge Fly Fishing School.”

Stacy Lynn, CCI

Stacy Lynn

The sport of Fly Fishing has been central in Stacy’s life since 1995. Stacy has worked in Central Texas’ best fly shops since that time and is an avid saltwater and freshwater angler. She is a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor and a graduate of Joan Wulff’s Fly Fishing Instructor’s School. She has been an active member of the Guadalupe River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Alamo Fly Fishers, Austin Fly Fishers, Rockport Fly Fishers and Texas Women Fly Fishers. She is a Lead Instructor for Texas’ Casting for Recovery program – a weekend fly fishing retreat for women surviving breast cancer. She has been a feature speaker and demonstrator at numerous events including The Fly Fishing Show, The Shallow Water Show, Fly Fish Texas, Flat Out Fishing!, TPWD Expo and several FFF Conclaves. Stacy is the Operations Manager at Sportsman’s Finest, a specialty fly fishing and hunting store in Austin, Texas. Her favorite Fly Fishing endeavor to date is sight casting in saltwater, most specifically to Redfish, and her instruction specialty is helping fly casters prepare for the challenging and exciting Saltwater Fly Fishing experience.
