Southern Council Conclave Logo

Job Well Done!

The Southern Council members would like to express their highest regard for the work that Terry Beeson put into the 2010 Conclave and Fly Fishing Festival as the 2010 Conclave Chair. Many fly fishers have enjoyed his efforts of extraordinary measure. He is supported by a cadre of folks who made a valiant stand of developing this year's conclave into one of the best ones we have had yet.

A special thanks goes to the many folks behind the scenes supporting Terry and making the 2010 Conclave happen: Ken Richards coordinated the exhibitors. Howard Hawkins was the auction chair. Dennis "Wild Bear" Reed coordinated the fly tyers, their multi-day schedule and coordination of fly cap/plate donations. Frank Reid was the mastermind behind the Fly Fishing Games. Steve Antonic ran the Jerry Clark Casting Games with the help of his club, Ozark Fly Fishers. Kurt Moomau set a higher standard with the range of programs for this year's conclave. Kay Jackson provided the leadership for the Outreach program. Les Jackson lead the Thursday Night Welcoming Committee with the help of many of Dallas Fly Fishers and Fort Worth Fly Fishers. Larry Wegmann steered the Youth Conclave efforts with his multiple support team. Chris and Carol Jackson performed their amazing team effort for registration — before, during and after the conclave. Each chair had behind him or her a group of dedicated members who made them look good. The coordination of the whole conclave appeared flawless to the member and general public. A conclave is never without minor problems but they were overcome through the hard work and efforts of this group of folks working together.

The Southern Council as a collective body would like to thank all individuals who contributed in either a small or huge part toward making the 2010 Conclave the best it could be.

Fly Fishing Games

This is a 4 person team event to showcase the skills of the fly fishers (co-ed = men and women) in a club. Each club should have a name and some “distinctive” outfit or apparel item. This is not your average somber fishing event. We expect cheering, laughing and hollering throughout this event. Cheering sections are encouraged. Multiple teams are allowed from each club, but there are NO “B” teams. Each team will represent its club. Teams combined from multiple clubs (such as a Southern Council Board or Guest Speakers Team) are allowed, but they have to fight it out over who gets the trophy. Dueling tungsten bead heads on an 8wt at 50 feet will be the decider. For full details ...
